I would like your opinion as to which buttons I should use for my Blissful Jacket. When my Mom was at my place this weekend, she showed me a new way of seaming the reversed stocking stitch that is the right side of the jacket, so last night I was unpicking the seams I wasn't happy with and seaming according to the way she showed me. Soon I will have to sew on buttons, and here are two sets I picked up at the Glebe Community Centre's Fabric flea market. The pattern itself calls for 1/2" (13mm) buttons, which is the size of the buttons on the right. You can't really tell from the picture, but there is a slight variation in colour between the two sets: the bigger ones on the left are redder, while the smaller ones on the right are a bit salmon-coloured. I am worried that if I choose the smaller ones, they will slip through the buttonholes when I don't want them to and that the jacket won't stay buttoned-up. What do you think?

Here is a full-sized picture of the unfinished jacket, if that helps:

...and a close-up of the fabric:

I'd go with whichever buttons match the contrast colour in the sweater (which seems to be those on the left). You could always close up the buttonholes a bit if the buttons slip through.

I'm with Leanne!
BTW, another way to check - slip one button through the buttonhole - while still on the card - to see what it looks like. Sometimes the white card throws the colour off a bit.
